Hound-Up

Terms of Service

Effective 16 September 2026 · Operated by Andy Vaughan (sole trader)

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using Hound-Up, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. What Hound-Up is

Hound-Up is a business management tool for solo dog walkers: scheduling, client and dog records, and invoicing. You sign in with Apple once, the first time you open the app, before you can create any records — this is free, takes a few seconds, and never asks for an email address or password. Once you're signed in, the core app — scheduling, records, and drafting and sending invoices — works fully offline and backs up automatically to our own backend. Reading a pasted booking message, publishing a calendar link, and contacting support are all optional features you can choose to use, also free, that likewise require being signed in since they go through our backend.

Autopilot is a separate, optional paid subscription — see Section 5 — that adds automatic background features (auto-nudge, instant booking-request notifications, unlimited clients) for walkers who want them, plus an optional public micro-site (Section 6) for walkers who want to advertise their business. Autopilot isn't a backup feature — every signed-in walker already gets automatic backup for free, whether or not they subscribe.

3. Your responsibility for your data

You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter into the app, and for how you run your dog-walking business — including any legal, tax, insurance, or licensing obligations that apply to you.

You're also responsible for the personal data you enter about your clients and their dogs. You act as the data controller for that information — meaning it's on you to have an appropriate basis for holding it (for example, your clients' reasonable expectation that you'll keep records to run their bookings and invoice them) and to handle it appropriately. See the Privacy Policy for what the app itself does with that data.

4. Data processing terms

This section applies whenever a feature you use sends data through Hound-Up's backend — signing in and storing your business/client data, emailing an invoice, reading a pasted booking message, publishing a calendar feed, contacting support, publishing your public micro-site, or receiving a booking request or enquiry a prospective client submits through it — and sets out the terms on which that happens, as required by Article 28 UK GDPR.

Roles. You are the data controller for the personal data you enter about your clients and their dogs. Hound-Up (Andy Vaughan) acts as your data processor — for your records as a whole once you're signed in (which happens automatically, the first time you open the app), and for the specific piece of data any other backend feature you use needs to do its job.

Subject matter, duration, and nature of processing. For a one-off action (relaying one invoice email, parsing one pasted message, hosting one calendar feed file, receiving one booking request or enquiry from a prospective client), processing is limited to what that single action requires and lasts only as long as needed to complete it — nothing is retained by the backend beyond that, except the calendar feed file itself, which persists until you revoke or replace it. Once you're signed in, processing is ongoing: your business and client records are stored continuously until you delete them (Settings → Data → "Delete cloud data") — signing out on its own stops further syncing but doesn't erase what's already stored.

Categories of data and data subjects. For a one-off action: whatever you've chosen to include in the specific invoice, message, or feed being sent — typically your client's name, contact details, and dog's name — plus your own business details where relevant. Once signed in: everything listed in the Privacy Policy's "Your data, and your account" section, including clients' medical/vet notes and your own bank details. The data subjects are your clients and their households, prospective clients who submit a booking request or enquiry through your micro-site, and you yourself (for your own business/bank details).

Sub-processors. The current list is published in the Privacy Policy. Andy Vaughan won't engage a new sub-processor, or replace an existing one, for these features without updating that list and this page first.

Security. Every request to the backend is authenticated per-device via Apple's App Attest, and by your own account once you're signed in, sent over TLS, and processed on infrastructure hosted in the EU (Supabase, eu-west-1) except where a sub-processor's own service (Resend, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, Stripe) requires otherwise for that specific task.

International transfers. Some sub-processors may process data outside the UK/EEA as part of delivering their service (for example, Microsoft's global Azure infrastructure, or Stripe's). Where that happens, it's under that provider's own standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.

Assistance with data subject requests. If one of your clients asks you to access, correct, or erase data that passed through Hound-Up's backend, Andy Vaughan will reasonably assist. For a one-off action, there's usually nothing left on the backend to act on beyond an active calendar feed file. If you're signed in, your client's data may still be stored there until you delete it yourself, or ask us to.

5. Autopilot (subscription)

Autopilot is an optional auto-renewing subscription, currently £9.99/month (or your local currency equivalent), billed through your Apple ID. Subscribing turns it on: unlimited clients, auto-nudge for overdue invoices even with the app closed, an automatically-updated availability calendar and calendar feed, and instant booking-request notifications. It does not add backup, multi-device sync, or invoice-paid notifications — every walker already gets those for free once they're signed in, whether or not they ever subscribe.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends, at the price then in effect. Manage or cancel anytime in your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or via Settings → Autopilot → "Manage subscription" in the app, which opens the same place. Cancelling stops future billing at the end of the current period; it doesn't refund the current period or retroactively delete data already stored (see Section 4 and the Privacy Policy for how to do that separately).

Apple, not Hound-Up, processes this payment and holds your payment details — see Apple's own terms at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/.

6. Public micro-site

Autopilot includes an optional public micro-site (Settings → Profile → Micro-site) — a business page, reachable by anyone with the link, that you can choose to publish. You control everything shown on it, including which of your clients' dogs, if any, appear by name and photo. You're responsible for having your client's agreement before featuring their dog, in the same way you're responsible for your clients' data generally (see Section 3). Turning the micro-site off stops the page showing anything to visitors; the link itself doesn't change, so it resumes working if you turn the feature back on. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what's shown and how it's served.

7. Payments to you from your clients

Separately from the Autopilot subscription above, Hound-Up itself doesn't process the payments your clients make to you. Invoices generated in the app are for your records and for sending to your clients — how you and your clients actually settle payment (bank transfer, cash, or by card via Stripe if you've connected online payments) happens outside Hound-Up's own systems.

8. Emailing invoices and messages

If you use the in-app "email invoice" feature or contact support, you're asking Hound-Up's backend to relay that specific message on your behalf, as described in the Privacy Policy. Emailing an invoice specifically also requires being signed in (Section 2), since sending one is bundled with reserving its invoice number. You're responsible for making sure the recipient address is correct and that you have a legitimate reason to email that person.

9. Availability

The app is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Signing in, automatic backup, Autopilot, emailing invoices, reading a pasted booking message, publishing a calendar link, the public micro-site, and support all require an internet connection and depend on third-party services (Apple, Supabase, Cloudflare, Resend, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, Stripe) that Andy Vaughan doesn't control and can't guarantee the uptime of. Once you're signed in, core scheduling and record-keeping work fully offline regardless.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Andy Vaughan isn't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including lost data, lost business, or errors in invoices you generate and send. Keep your own backups of anything critical to your business.

11. Changes

The app and these terms may change over time. Material changes to these terms will be reflected here with a new effective date.

12. Termination

You can stop using Hound-Up at any time by deleting the app. Andy Vaughan may discontinue the app or its optional backend features at any time, subject to standard App Store subscription-refund handling for any active Autopilot subscription.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
